Midlife Wellness: Thrive After 50

Welcome! I’m so glad you’re here.

I’m Lori Wesmiller, MS — a mental health therapist, mom, and woman in her 50s who’s personally experienced the fog, frustration, and transformation that can come with perimenopause, menopause, and midlife.

I created Balance & Bloom 50+ because I know how lonely and confusing this season can feel. The brain fog. The anxiety that seems to come out of nowhere. The emotional ups and downs. The identity shifts. And the way women’s health — especially mental health — often gets dismissed or misunderstood during this stage of life.

But here’s the truth:

You’re not broken. You’re not crazy.

You’re not “too emotional” or “too sensitive.”

You’re going through real, biological and psychological changes — and you deserve support that actually makes sense.

Through my own journey (gluten-free struggles included), I’ve discovered that midlife doesn’t have to be a crisis — it can be a powerful awakening. It’s a time to pause, reassess, and reconnect with who you are and what you need.

And that’s what I help women do.

What You’ll Find Here

Balance & Bloom 50+ is a therapist-backed space for women who want more than surface-level wellness.

On the blog, I share:

  • How hormonal shifts impact your mood, memory, and mental health
  • Ways to calm your nervous system and reduce midlife anxiety
  • Honest conversations about identity, aging, and self-worth
  • Simple habits and mindset tools to feel more grounded and whole
  • Encouragement to let go of unrealistic expectations and embrace the woman you are now

This isn’t about chasing youth or fixing yourself.

It’s about understanding what’s happening in your body and mind — and finding practical, compassionate ways to support yourself through it.

A Little More About Me

I’ve worked in the mental health field for over 20 years, and I bring both clinical knowledge and personal experience to everything I share. I’m a mom to a teen, I live with celiac disease, and I’ve lost 30 pounds in my 50s by tuning into my body — not punishing it.

I know what it’s like to feel overwhelmed, invisible, or unsure of what’s “normal” anymore. And I also know how empowering it can feel to finally understand your body and advocate for yourself with confidence.

If you’ve ever thought, “Why didn’t anyone tell me this?”

You’re in the right place.

Let’s bloom through this, together.
